Dr Egbe Osifo-Dawodu, President
Dr. Egbe Osifo-Dawodu is the Sector Manager for Human Development Programs in the World Bank Institute (the capacity building arm of the World Bank Group). In this role she is responsible for providing strategic leadership in developing the World Bank Institute's health, education, HIV/AIDS and Social Protection programs. She is also responsible for building effective relationships and collaboration with key external partners engaged in the development and delivery of programs. Prior to this appointment, she worked for both the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation.
She has over 19 years experience in the healthcare industry covering policy, provision and healthcare financing in Africa, Asia, Middle East and Latin America . She has also taught at local universities in the Washington DC area.
Dr. Egbe Osifo-Dawodu is a qualified medical doctor and a member of the UK Royal College of Physicians. She holds an MBA from Cranfield School of Management and an MSc from Oxford University . She has also attended courses on the business of entertainment at the University of Southern California and University of California Los Angeles .
Dr. Sylvester Okwunodu Ogbechie, Vice President
Sylvester Okwunodu Ogbechie ( Ph.D. Northwestern University ) is a faculty member of the department of History of Arts and Architecture at the University of California Santa Barbara . He is an expert on African Knowledge Systems with extensive scholarly expertise in Classical, Modern, and Contemporary African and African Diaspora arts, and Visual Culture. His research evaluates Alternative Modernities, and the colonial and postcolonial conventions of representation in the arts and visual cultures of African and African Diaspora populations.
His book, Ben Enwonwu: Making of an African Modernist is forthcoming from the University of Rochester Press . His articles and reviews have appeared in African Arts , Arts Journal , NKA: Journal of Contemporary African Art , Revue Noire , Ijele , Farafina , and several important art history anthologies. He is the founder and editorial director of Critical Interventions: Journal of African Art History and Visual Culture , and serves on the editorial board of Nka , African Arts and Ijele . He is
a curatorial adviser to the Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco and consults for many other museums and cultural institutions worldwide. He is also the founder and director of the Aachron Knowledge Systems Initiative and a curatorial consultant for the Mbanefo Charitable Foundation, a New York based non-profit organization that promotes knowledge of modern and contemporary African arts.
Mr. Dapo Otunla, Secretary
Mr. Otunla is a member of the Banking and Finance Group in the Chicago office of Mayer Brown LLP, an approximately 1800-plus-attorney law firm, with offices in several major cities across the world. Mr. Otunla's legal experience includes the representation of major global corporations on a variety of domestic US and international multi-million dollar structured finance transactions.
Mr. Otunla received his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and graduated from the University of Sierra Leone 's Faculty of Law with honors prior to attending the Nigeria Law School, Lagos, Nigeria where he also graduated with honors. Mr. Otunla subsequently received an LL.M. Degree with honors and a Certificate in Management from Northwestern University's School of Law and Kellogg Graduate School of Management, respectively.
Mr. Otunla is a former Co-Chair of the Foreign Lawyers Committee and a member of the Steering Committee of the International Law Section both of the Boston Bar Association in The Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He is also a member of the Bar of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Bars of the State of New York, The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the District of Columbia and the State of Illinois in the U.S.
Ms Lisa Poole, Treasurer
Ms. Poole is a member of the Tax Group in the Washington DC office of King & Spalding LLP, an 800-plus-attorney law firm based in Atlanta , Georgia , with offices in several cities in the US and an office in London , England . She has over 15 years of experience in structuring complex domestic and foreign business transactions and investments, each typically involving more than $1 billion. Ms. Poole also regularly represents nonprofit organizations on a pro bono basis.
She received her A.B. degree in economics, with distinction, from the University of Michigan , and received her J.D. degree, with honors, from the Duke University School of Law. She is a member of the District of Columbia and Maryland Bars.
